The All-Big East first team, second team, and rookie team were announced earlier today. Five Wildcats garnered Big East honors for their play this season.
James Bell was named First Team All-Big East. The senior forward was a key piece of the Wildcats’ great season and exploded onto the scene this year. Bell finished the regular season as the Wildcat’s leading scorer (14.9 points per game) and tied as the second highest rebounder (6 rebounds per game).
JayVaughn Pinkston made it to Second Team All-Big East. He had another good year, averaging 14.3 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game. He provided issues for teams in the paint and sometimes, the perimeter. Pinkston was a matchup problem for opposing teams. He’ll be back for one more year, and he’s primed for another big one.
Darrun Hilliard and Ryan Arcidiacono were both given Big East Honorable Mentions. The sharpshooting tandem sunk a number of big shots from long range this season. Hilliard could hurt opposing teams from beyond the arc and even drive his way inside too. He was on fire in the last few games of the regular season.
Archie was back for his second season as the facilitator for the offense. The sophomore guard that generated buzz last season, generated even more buzz with his play this season especially when it came down to the closing minutes, just ask Kansas and Providence.
Last but not least is the freshman with a bright future, Josh Hart made it to the All-Big East Rookie Team. Hart flourished in a role coming off of the bench, he showed great promise many instances throughout the season with his tough play and fighting for offensive rebounds. He did a little of everything and it was noticed by all.
