At 5:30 today, Jalen Brunson was slated to make his big announcement of which school he would be attending next Fall. Leading up to today, it was reported that Brunson had narrowed his choices down to Illinois and Villanova. He visited the Main Line last week, as a part of a three day visit that started on Thursday. Standing at 6’1″ and 180 pounds, Brunson has been widely regarded as a five star recruit. He was offered by a number of schools, including UConn, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, and Temple. Before this week, it had been reported that Temple was a big contender in the hunt for Brunson, as that was his father attended college.
During the press conference at his high school, Brunson unveiled a Villanova T-Shirt, indicating his commitment to play for the Wildcats. This definitely has to be one of the biggest catches for Jay Wright and his coaching staff since the early/mid-2000’s. Brunson played for Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Illinois. There will be a of hype for the point guard who was ranked #22 on ESPN’s top 100. He was also ranked as the #1 recruit coming out of Illinois and the #2 point guard in the nation. According to 247Sports, he is ranked #19 overall.
Best Wishes for Jalen Brunson as he gears up for his senior season and we’ll be anxiously waiting for your arrival on the court!
