With a Big East regular season title on lockdown and losses for Wisconsin and Gonzaga, the Wildcats are moving up in this week’s AP and Coaches’ polls. Villanova is up to #4 in both polls, hopping over the Badgers and the Bulldogs. The Wildcats are turning some heads, claiming a #1 seed in many bracketologists’ eyes. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has hopped on board, naming them to the top seed of the West Region in his most recent bracket.
As for the rest of the Big East, Providence and Butler remain in the Top 25 rankings. Providence moves up to #24 in the AP Poll and #23 in the Coaches’ Poll. Butler is listed at #21 in both polls. In regards to Lunardi’s bracket, he predicts six Big East teams will make the NCAA Tournament. Georgetown is also listed in the West region, projected as a 6-seed. According to Lunardi, St. John’s, Providence, Butler, and Xavier will be joining the Wildcats and the Hoyas in the Big Dance.
