Darrun Hilliard is getting some much deserved credit that goes beyond Villanova and the Big East – the entire nation. Sporting News named the senior guard to Second Team All-American honors. Hilliard led the 29-2 regular season champion Wildcats in scoring, averaging 14.2 points per game. He also averaged 3.2 rebounds per game and just under two steals per game. Bethlehem Steel shot 43.6% overall and 38.2% from long range.

He’s had a number of dazzling performances throughout the season, most notably when he was the hero. Very early on in the season, Hilliard was able to get a steal that led to a fast break dunk to ice the game against the Bucknell Bison. Recently, he had a monster game at Butler, where he sank the game winning three pointer. Hilliard had 31 points that night and a career-high eight baskets from long range.
