After two double-digit victories this past week, the release of the AP and Coaches’ Polls today has confirmed that Villanova shall remain #1. After a week of much tumult up and down the rankings—only seven ranked teams finished the week undefeated—Villanova will hold the top spot for another week. The Wildcats therefore join six other programs who have been ranked #1 for two weeks, including such programs as Louisville (2013) and St. Louis (in the first two AP Polls in 1948).

After defeating Oklahoma for the second time this season, as well as #10 West Virginia, Kansas made the leap up four spots to #2. Their two top ten victories were enough to earn 21 first-place votes in the AP Poll, with the other 44 going to Villanova.

The Big East’s two other ranked teams saw slight drops. Xavier moved down to #8 and Providence, despite their loss to Marquette, barely remains ranked at #23. Those two teams will play in Cincinnati on Wednesday.
